Lemongrass Tea – The Healthy Alternative


Just a short post today about my favorite drink. I used to gobble down 2-4 liters of Coke a day, but my lifestyle change meant that those days are over.


My favorite drink now is lemongrass tea

lemongrassYou take around 300-400 grams of lemongrass and boil it in a big pot with 3-4 liters of water.


It might get boring drinking the same over and over, so I have experimented a little and foudn the following variations to work very well. Leave a comment if you find other good variations!

  • You can add a little ginger for taste.
  • Add fresh lemon balm leaves.
  • Add fresh mint leaves.
  • For a little more tart flavor cut the lemons in half and boil them with the tea.
  • Drink the tea hot

Let it boil for about 30 minutes then put it through a strainer removing the lemongrass.

Add a lemon juice from 1-2 lemons and 2-3 tablespoons of honey and let it cool down.

Put it in bottles and store it in the refrigerator and you will have a very healthy and refreshing drink the whole family will and should enjoy.

Lemongrass has antioxidant properties and it is used to treat muscle pain, stomach pain and stomach spasms.

The lemongrass tea will stay fresh in the refrigerator for around 7 – 10 days.
